Blackheath And Elthamian’s 4th X1 V Herne Bay
Something in the universe had altered the hearts and minds of Team BEs. A rare cosmic alignment was all it took for BEs to start, maintain and finish a match as though their life depended on it. The match was against top of the league Herne Bay, who had scored many goals over the season, so this peak in performance, though tardy, was welcome. Herne bay turned on their playlist of tricks and manoeuvres but were matched in the dance by BEs determination to get that ball off them at every turn. They may have scored one goal in the first half but goalie Sue and her great defence team, kept out quite a few more. There were pops of cosmic brilliance from Nat, Daisy, Melody and Ali, with lots of running from Lula, Gina, Ciara and Claire. Charlotte was positively balletic at times. A team effort of extraterrestrial proportion kept an attacking, relentless and increasingly worried Herne Bay with only one goal and BEs with a lesson learnt- play well for 70 minutes, not just the second half.
Wally of the Match, went to Charlotte’s youngest daughter, for volunteering. Player of the Match went to Feet of Flames Sue for amazing goal keeping.
